How to Replace an audi key copy G28 Engine Speed Sensor
In this video Charles the Humble Mechanic shows how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. The sensor is located at the top of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via the grey wire T55/49 and then to the tachometer located on the instrument cluster.
1. Engine Speed Sensor
The grey wire is located on the edge of transmission, above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU utilizes this information to regulate the amount of fuel and boost. It also sends signals to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster.
The sensor is used to link with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC, and where the camshaft lies so that it can activate the spark and injectors.
If this sensor fails, the ECU will display an error Programming Audi Key code P00160. This means that the Crank Shaft is out of line with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate the possibility of a chain stretch or jumped chain link in the upper chain. However, the code won't appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).
Testing is a bit challenging as there are two different connector pins, and they have different functions but the most effective method of testing it is by measuring resistance between the sensor and the ECU. It should read approximately 1000 ohms if the sensor is at full operation. If you are having problems with this part, audi tt Key programming check for signs of oil or coolant in the connector bay.
2. Injectors
Yesterday, when i was accelerating to the fullest speed from highway paytoll i had an abrupt drop in power like the engine is running out of gas or injectors aren't firing at all. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs, three were drenched in gazoline, the 4th one was dry. I placed a tissue over each injector hole and when i start the engine with no sparks, the ones with gazoline jump out. The fourth one remains shut. I inspected the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55/30/55/48/55/14/55/48/ I got zero Ohm. I'm assuming that the issue is in another location.
I also tried to reset the PID but without success. The car will start when the G28 is not plugged in and is running fine when it is plugged in but it still has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature value of -49c, even if I unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars when the actual pressure is 0.
I don't know what to do. I believe that I've all other possibilities out. I'm concerned that i may have missed something. If anyone has any suggestions, please chime in! TIA!
3. Fuel Pump
The fuel pump of the g28 receives a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily locate the spare in a salvage shop or parts store. It is simple to test them by putting your DMM in resistance mode and measure between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's end up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black end of the connector). They must be infinite Ohms.
4. ECU
The ECU in our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY) engines must be aware of the speed and position of the crankshaft to make decisions regarding fuel injector timing, etc. It utilizes a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to accomplish this. If either of these goes bad you will get codes on the diagnostic scanner that can lead to engine shutdown.
A failing G28 sensor could result in an inaccurate gearbox speed counter, a gearbox that shifts faster than normal, or audi key replacement cost Uk a misfire while in gear. It is likely that your sensor is failing and programming audi key requires to be replaced if you encounter any of these symptoms. The good news is that they are quite affordable and readily available particularly when you're looking at a Bosch unit which is what we have. Alternately, the GM version of this unit is also a good choice.
5. Tachometer
A failing engine speed sensor could be a cause for a slew of issues with your audi replacement car keys. It's a vital component of your audi spare key replacement's transmission, as it sends information to the ECU about how fast or slow the vehicle's crankshaft is spinning. This sensor can cause the transmission to fail and other components in the car to be affected.
The G5 engine sensor is located near the edge of transmission, above the flywheel ring. It sends signals via a gray wire to the ECU pin T55/49. The ECU is then able to process this signal to regulate fuel, timig and boost as well as sends it on to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster. You can determine if the sensor is in failure by checking continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. Also, you can check continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79trace [79]), and between pin T6a/1 as well as pin T26a/12. There should be a resistance of approximately 1000 ohms in these areas. This is the same across the Programming audi key 80-100-200-RS2 model, ranging from the 1985 MC all the way up to the 1997 UrS AN and the 1995 RS2 Du You may also find some good ones in wrecking yards.
