Over time our lips gradually lose volume, become smaller and flatten, the boarders. Develop fine lines and the cupids bow levels and corners of the mouth can turn downward. The result of ageing on the lips creates tired looking, and aged appearance. Gummy smiles can also affect confidence.

Simultaneous ageing effects across the bone, muscles and underlying fat cause the may cause overlying skin to sag and gravity to pull lax skin down to the mouth and chin area.

After 10 years treating the effects of ageing and skin laxity in the mouth area. Dr Hemming has developed a bespoke skin tightening and rejuvenation treatment for the smile, mouth and surrounding jaw and chin area.

Thames Smile uses , and treatments in the mouth area with the addition of and and depending on the level of treatment required to make the best results. Combined with for the best results.

Grouped into levels of tightening and improvement the Thames Smile has an option for all skin types and ages.

All treatments are designed just for you. The Thames Smile is a totally bespoke combination of lifting, tightening and volumizing treatments designed to stimulate collagen, hydrate and rejuvenate the perioral area as well as target stubborn, fat deeper within the jowl area. Using a combination of treatments to suit your skin and extent of collagen loss starting with with the additional Lip . This step can be used for everyone and repeated monthly. Should you require further lift, tightening or volumizing we can step to one of the additional levels.

Further skin tightening and hydration treatments combine dermal filler, , muscle relaxation as well as , and t.

Muscle relaxation can be used for Gummy smile treatment to relax the gums.

There are two main types of dermal filler, made from hyaluronic acid or a collagen stimulator.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are a versatile treatment that smooths fine lines and wrinkles, restoring volume and contours to the face. Hyaluronic acid lives in all living organisms and also encourages collagen and elastin stimulation. Treatment results are seen immediately after injection and last until your body breaks down the hyaluronic acid product.

Collagen stimulators are not made from hyaluronic acid, but products that stimulate in a different way. Collagen is a naturally occurring protein found in your skin and body where it plays a key role, providing support and structure. As we age, we produce less collagen, leading to visible signs of ageing. Ellansé is a collagen stimulating filler that provides immediate volumisation followed by long-term collagen stimulation. The volumisation and correction of wrinkles is seen immediately after treatment, following which gradual stimulation of your own collagen production gives natural-looking and long-lasting result.

The Thames Smile is a bespoke treatment designed specifically for you following consultation.  We discuss your medical history at your new patient consultation goals from treatment. Following this Dr Hemming will design your Thames Smile. Treatments benefit from skin hydration and tightening, wrinkle and fine line treatment in the lower face, natural lip hydration and volume. The Thames Smile includes skin hydrating over a number of visits 3-6 weeks apart.

We would ask you to postpone treatment if you were pregnant or breastfeeding. Treatment may not suitable if you are having immune therapy or undergoing cancer treatment.

All our Thames Smile Treatments are performed by Dr Hemming who is extremely experienced in aesthetic injectable techniques and has a very good eye for natural treatment.

You should expect some minor discomfort or tenderness initially, this settles very quickly. We use local anaesthetic injections to help numb some treatment areas and cool compress to calm any potential swelling.

Side effects from Thames Smile treatments are minimal, if any, but may include. Mild bruising or tenderness, redness, dry skin and itching over the treatment area as it settles.

After Thames Skin mouth and lip area treatment there can be some redness and swelling and possibly some bruising. This is normal after treatment and can last a few days to 2 weeks

Following your new patient consultation or discussion with one of our lovely Thames Skin Clinic team you will have been recommended for the Thames Smile treatment.

Unlike some smile treatment you will be treated over 1-3. Visits.

At your initial visit your treatment will be discussed in full. A combination of hyaluronic acid injectable products are used to stimulate the skin around the mouth without increasing volume or causing the unnatural duck lip appearance seen in the media. By using a specialist product for skin strengthening, hydration and treatment of laxity within the skin we are able to tighten the perioral area and make more natural fuller lip treatments without an unnatural pout. All of our lip treatments are designed to create a genuine lip volume and natural happy smile.

The addition of muscle relaxation treatment helps to release the muscles pulling the lateral corners of the mouth down and helping the oral area to look happier as well as reducing bar code lip lines caused with age. Gummy smile can also be treated with this injectable.

Local anaesthetic cream or a small injection of local anaesthetic may be used to make your treatment more comfortable.

Lip filler effects can be seen immediately, treatment tends to swell a little overnight and settles fulling over the subsequent days. After 14 days the filler should feel soft and fully integrated into it surrounding area. This part of the Thames Smile treatment lasts 6-12 months.

The hyaluronic acid strengthening treatment is injected into the intradermal layers taking 12 hours to smooth and form a fine intradermal net of collagen stimulating hyaluronic acid. Over the next few weeks the area benefits from increased hydration and your skin will glow. During which time increased collagen is starting for form and becomes more noticable 3-6 weeks later.

Your second appointment is scheduled during the collagen stimulation phase and the hyaluronic skin boosting treatment is repeated. Repetition reinforces the hydration and collagen boosting increasing the longevity of the treatment results.

The use of botulinum toxin in the oral area and chin help to smooth orange peel texture on the chin area as well as fine lines and wrinkles. Treatment takes 14 days to reach full effect.

Corrects volume loss, rejuvenates signs of ageing in lip and mouth area. Also, treatment of a Gummy smile.

Side effects are minimal if any. Injection site tenderness and mild bruising as well as redness, dry skin and itching to the treatment area may occur. Lips can swell after treatment and will settle within 7-14 days.

Dermal fillers should not be used if pregnant or breast feeding as we have no research to prove it is safe for your foetus or child.

Care must be taken if you are currently suffering with a skin infection or allergy or taking particular medication. Your specialist will be able to advise you further if you have recently had a skin peel or resurfacing procedure. Please let the doctor know if you suffer from cold sores as treatment can sometimes trigger the virus.

More serious complications can occur which is why all of our dermal filler treatments are performed by a medically qualified practitioner who is trained in complication management.

Do not touch, rub or massage the area or apply makeup for at least 6 hours.

Immediately you may have redness, swelling, bruising, discomfort or itching these should settle over 7-14 days.

Ask your doctor to advise a pre and post skin care regime to rejuvenate the skin and maintain maximum effects.

If you suffer from cold sores these may be activated by treatment and your doctor may prescribe you some antiviral cream or tablets.

AVOID skin peels, sunbeds and laser treatments for up to 2 weeks.
